Quality Offensive through Digitalisation
Our quality champion is Martin Jost, authorised officer and certified Automotive Quality Manager. His project, submitted to Quality Austria “Quality Offensive through Digitalisation in a Service Provider Company” aroused the interest of the expert jury. The digitalisation strategy is backed by a CRM tool and app he developed in-house. Manually produced work reports and the attendant deluge of paperwork are now all consigned to the past. Our customers also benefit. All of the important key performance indicators and data are available online, right around the clock and in real time on the IT-Portal FOIS 4.0.
Quality Offensive through Digitalisation
What is this project all about? FOCUSON teams are in operation right across Europe in trade and industry, working as service providers in quality and logistics environments. The work outcomes and records of working hours of these employees, and the ongoing vehicle inspection campaigns, used to be recorded by hand in a work report – and each year, that amounted to 300,000 reports and 300,000 sheets of paper.
The ambitious project objectives of Martin Jost include putting an end to the messy business of paperwork with its attendant loss of data, improvements to quality, optimisation of procedures, immediate input of data by our employees directly on location on our customers’ premises, saving paper and obtaining precise key performance indicators. And all of those objectives have been achieved in full.
App puts an end to the messy business of paperwork
With an external IT partner, the existing FOCUSON Online Information System – FOIS – was raised to a new level. Data can now be recorded by employees immediately using an app on their mobile phone or tablet. The result: The throughput time for order processing, paper consumption and potential sources of error have all been reduced substantially.
In addition to a substantial improvement in internal procedures, the CRM system provides even greater benefits for our customers. You have access online to all data on our IT portal FOIS 4.0 – including Pareto diagrams and statistics relating to time and projects. Vehicle inspection campaigns are now also being processed through FOIS 4.0.
Quality Austria
Since 2015, further to an initiative by the Austrian Association of Quality Assurance (ÖVQ), Quality Austria has been issuing two annual awards, based on the verdict of an independent expert jury: ‘Quality Champion’ and ‘Quality Talent’. Martin Jost was nominated for Quality Champion on the basis of the project he submitted, ‘Quality Offensive through Digitalisation in a Service Provider Company’, and has already been invited to the hearing. However, due to the current situation, the process of placement and awards has been postponed.
Task
